Experience
As a native Washingtonian, I went north to start my journey to become a Registered Dietitian at Syracuse University. I had an interest in food and nutrition at an early age and studying nutrition sciences sparked my passion for health promotion and disease prevention. I graduated from Syracuse with my degree in Nutrition Sciences and a minor in Psychology and then moved to New York City to pursue my career by attending New York Presbyterian Hospital for my dietetic internship.
After completing my internship, I started working at Mount Sinai Beth Israel (then known as Beth Israel Medical Center) where I was an inpatient and outpatient clinical dietitian. I worked with a variety of patient populations including critical care, gastrointestinal disorders, obesity, diabetes, and pediatrics. I quickly saw that many nutrition issues are linked to chronic conditions and that led me to to become a Certified Diabetes Educator. I had the opportunity to work with patients privately in addition to the hospital environment. Both gave me a chance to broaden my patient population and help individuals that were in an acute care setting, as well as patients who were interested in optimizing their health through lifestyle changes and nutrition.
I spent six years in New York City working with patients in the inpatient and outpatient environment before moving home to take a job at Children’s National Medical Center. My work at Children’s National has provided me a unique opportunity to work in pediatrics at one of the nation’s leading children’s hospitals. My work here allowed me to broaden my experience by working with infants and toddlers with failure to thrive, food allergies, chronic diseases, overweight children, diabetes, and more.
Once I settled in Washington I started to expand my patient population by continuing to work at Children’s but also seeing patients outside of the hospital setting. This has allowed me to work with children, families, and adults on a wide variety of nutritional challenges and offer solutions to help empower my patients to live a healthier lifestyle.
I have now been back in the DC area for over 5 years and am currently living in Bethesda, Maryland with my husband and daughter. I am so grateful for the experiences I have had and the hospitals I have worked in that have led me to where I am today. As a Dietitian with over 10 years of experience — and as a mom and wife — I feel more passionate than ever about food and nutrition. My objective is to continue to work with patients and families to develop individual solutions to help them reach their nutrition goals and optimize their health.
